Noisography:  What is new for Yarmouth metal in 2013?

Nick: Well this is our first year doing the Winter Meltdown in a 19+ establishment, so we are hoping that will attract more of our target market. The all ages scene is just unfortunately too small to run shows regularly.

Noisography: Do you have any new plans for Winter Meltdown this year?
Nick: We have a bunch of new shirts, new stickers, a new banner, and basically just polishing up things we've done in the last 2 years. This is our "Coachella" our "Download Festival" so we just have to keep building up the brand and push the limits each year.

Noisography:. Why did you decide to move it from an all ages venue to +19?

Nick: Money basically. We have a good deal with the bar so we save a lot of overhead on rental, etc. We purchased our own PA and that has definitely served us well also. The amount we save on the putting on of the shows, goes more into the bands pockets and perhaps even ours a little moving forward.

Noisography: This is your 3rd Annual Winter Meltdown, has it grown from the previous years?

Nick: The first year was by far the largest show we have ever done. We had about 210 people for that one. Last years Meltdown was done over 2 days, and we drew about 95-100 each night, however the venue was huge and made it look basically empty. This year we anticipate about 150 each night. Should be a great turnout.

Noisography: How did you decide on the line up for this year?

Nick: Me, Jeff and Brian got together and basically figured out who we wanted for sure, and the rest kind of just fell into place with some bands not being able to make it.

Noisography: Are there any bands in particular that you are excited to have play this year?

Nick: Bombing of Dresden for sure. They are the best metal band in Nova Scotia. Give them a listen and you'll see what I mean.

Noisography: What is your favorite part of putting on Winter Meltdown?

Nick: The after parties are the best for sure. We've had some pretty crazy times. Those are the best memories.

Noisography:. Does Yarmouth have any new acts in the scene you are excited about?

Nick: Bombing of Dresden. Labrynthian are very exciting and amazing too. Of course Rain Over St Ambrose are doing good things, and Lead Mule is just starting to take off as well. Lots of good music down here for all tastes.

Noisography:  Is there anything else this year you are excited to take part in?

Nick: Noisography's event of course. I'll be taking in a show or two at the ECMA's and probably traveling to Quebec for a nice vacation afterwards. We're excited for the future after this, and where we will be in lets say the fall, who knows - but we're pumped!
