The night kicked off with 4 piece instrumental surf strummers, Pewter City. They played a mix of twangy, 60's inspired originals and covers, including a killer rendition of Dale Dick's Misirlou, better know as “that song from Pulp Fiction.” Surf music seems to be making a bit of a revival lately, and the bands tight drumming and funky syncopated guitars got the crowd up on the dance floor and set the tone for the evening.

As with previous rockabilly evenings, the lovely and talented burlesque dancers were employed to entertain the crowd after each band. While the execution wasn't quite as smooth as previous headlining events at the Paragon, the crowd none the less went wild for the sassy and sexy ladies who showed off their original and creative routines on the Seahorse stage, starting with a cheeky 'flash' card number from Ruby Raunch.

Next up was Moncton's Carry Beck and the Rockabilly Rednecks. Leaning heavily on the 50's and 60's inspired sounds of rockabilly/R&B and the Sun Records catalog, Beck and band certainly played the most authentic music of the evening, with crooning vocals, stand up bass (and stand up drumming), and simple but catchy rhythms. With plenty of couple's swinging on the dance floor, the band kept up the energy and sweated out a non stop set of upbeat classic R&B tunes that might have filled your father (or your grandfather) with nostalgia.

Despite the well placed alternation of bands and dancers, there was still some delay on stage before another set of mischievous moves, courtesy of Le Noir, but the time was filled with limbo contests and giveaways, before finally giving way to headliners the Shakedown Combo. The family 3 piece topped of the night with a set of tight, stripped down, catchy original tunes that kept the crowd dancing until the end of night. With the constant thump of the stand up bass filling (almost) the entire rhyme section roll, slap-back guitar and feisty vocals had plenty of room to fill the space and deliver a rich sound steeping in swing and soul.
